2024 HOME HAUNTER AWARDS CONTEST
The Home Haunter Awards Contest is the signature annual awards event honouring the creativity, passion, hard work, and investment of the Canadian Haunters Association’s many members.
The Canadian Haunters Association recognizes all the time, expense, and work that go into preparing and decorating a home, yard, garage, barn, or walk-through Haunt leading up to, and throughout, Halloween.
Awards are presented in multiple categories to recognize each aspect of the artistry and ingenuity of a Haunt-themed attraction.
To enter the contest, you should compile a video showcasing your creation and upload it to YouTube. The video should be filmed in Landscape format (sideways) and can be a compilation of still images and video clips. The video can be any length but will only be judged on the first 3 minutes (for best Prop, Costume, Scare Actor, and Set) and 5 minutes (for best Yard Haunt/Display and Walk-Through), so it is to your advantage to ensure that the best footage/images are positioned within that time frame.
Each submission will be evaluated by a select panel of judges who are subject matter experts in various fields of themed (Halloween and Haunt) attractions and video creation and production. The judges will consider elements such as a particular theme, originality, innovation, detail, continuity, distressing, lighting, recycling of materials, props, scares, music and sound effects, actors/characters, video editing and anything else your creative minds can come up with. Planning and build/construction footage is welcome but, unless it is focal to your creation, it should be positioned near the end of your video.
Winners will receive a custom trophy and an award certificate (certificate only for Scare Actor, Costume and Scare Actor/Costume Hall of Fame), and of course, the coveted bragging rights for being recognized by the Canadian Haunters Association as a distinguished innovator and trendsetter and person(s) to be applauded.
